Härmän Taonta Oy is a family business that manufactures high quality tools with 60 years of experience.
The company was founded by Uuno Puronvarsi on April 25, 1961 in Hanhimäki, Alahärmä, Finland. Uuno was practically a blacksmith at birth. He was already in the fourth-generation blacksmith. He learned his true lesson in the 1940s and 1950s when he was as trainee in his fathers workshop.
In the early years, Härmän Taonta manufactured scythes, sickles and forged ornaments. In the 1970s, manufacturing focused more and more on garden tools when sales took place through large central stores.
Even today, garden tools are the main products of Härmän Taonta. However, forestry and winter tools as well as hiking products have also come to the front. The experience and know-how needed to produce blade tools is a company's long-term secret, which has increased and grown over the decades.
Currently, Härmän Taonta's struggle against steel continues in the sixth generation of the Puronvarsi family. Over the years, manufacturing techniques have changed from the time of forges and anvils, but the products are manufactured even today with respect to traditions and also with modern methods. This ensures that the customer only gets high quality products. Quality has always been and will continue to be a matter of honor to us.
